Please remember The Rock Christian Fellowship – our LPD “Church” of the Week. Thanks to Anna (Ben) Crumback at Sointula Community Church for producing the Church of the Week!

Dear friends,

Good Friday morning!

Where would you be without God? What difference has He made in your life? In your hope for the future? In your peace in life, with God and with yourself?

This weekend, Karen and I travel to Alberta, where I will have the honour and responsibility of conducting the funeral and burial of my brother-in-law, Harry Fuller.

I have been looking forward to joining the men of North Delta EFC for a retreat on Mayne Island, but family takes precedence, doesn’t it.

Harry’s life was not easy. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in his early thirties, in his case, the disease ravaged his body and his sight. He has had surgeries, transplants and an amputation to cope and with the hopes of regaining function that had been lost.

In recent years, Harry found real peace with God and with his circumstances, and came to have real faith and hope in God’s future. He is now free of disease and I look forward to seeing him again one day. I look forward to sharing of Harry’s hope as I gather with people over the weekend.

We live in a world that increasingly has little hope in anything beyond ourselves, and this seems awfully lacking. I appreciated a recent article to this effect by Jonathan Kay in the National Post. He writes, “In a largely godless world it’s hard to know what to say when tragedy strikes.”

Isn’t it great to know and to share hope!
